How to Convert an Image to Editable Text
A practical workflow for turning JPG and PNG documents into text, Markdown, tables, and formulas with OmniOCR.
Images are convenient for sharing, but the words inside them cannot be searched, edited, or reused directly. OCR solves that problem by recognizing the page and returning editable content.
Start with a readable image
Use a JPG or PNG with clear text, even lighting, and as little perspective distortion as possible. OmniOCR accepts files up to 10 MB. A sharp source gives the recognition model more information and usually needs less cleanup afterward.
Run the image through the workspace
- Open the OmniOCR workspace.
- Choose, drag, or paste a JPG or PNG file.
- Wait for recognition to finish.
The result panel keeps the source beside the extracted content. Switch between plain text, Markdown, tables, and formulas to inspect the part you need.
Review before reusing the result
OCR output should always be checked against the original, especially names, small numbers, formulas, and dense tables. Copy the active result view or download it for editing in another application.
Recent result text is saved in your browser so you can return to it on the same device. OmniOCR does not save the source image or recognized text in its application database. The image is sent to the OCR provider for processing.
How credits work
Each successful request costs at least one credit. Usage is rounded up at one credit per 5,000 provider tokens. Failed recognition does not consume credits. Anonymous visitors receive 30 free credits each UTC day; signed-in accounts use their account balance.
